Cross Weave Rugs is the collaborative effort of above 100 artisans starting from wool soring, carding, spinning, dyeing, knotting, trimming, washing and drying.
The carded wool is twisted and rolled on a Charkha (wheel) manually to form yarn. The quality of the carpet depends upon the thickness of the yarn and generally a 3-ply yarn is used
Dyeing process is done above 100-degree temperature to achieve color fastness. After dyeing process is completed, wet dyed yarns are dried up in open sun light.
Designs are chartered out on a graph and the weavers translate the graphic designs into knots on a carpet. The dyed yarn is made into balls and scissors, iron rod, lever and comb beaters are used as tolls.
After rugs are knotted from loom, they are brought to cutting and clipping according to the designs, where experienced worker clears the pattern and trim the pile with the help of scissors to get the desired design.
